Vale Super, Rory
The Mug team would like to join the chorus of those noting the passing of two legends of the turf, Super Impose and Rory’s Jester.
Some claim Super Impose to be Australian Turf’s greatest miler, arguably most famous for his win in the ‘92 Cox Plate as an 8 year old, beating home the likes of Better Loosen Up, Let’s Elope, Mannerism, Rough Habit and Naturalism (albeit with the latter falling en route).
And farewell to Rory’s Jester, sire to over $42.8 million in prizemoney. As the Swettenham Stud profile so nicely puts it, ‘Rory’s Jester has been successful when crossed with just about anything’. Make of that what you will. He no doubt went with a smile on his long, long face.

No doubt a bad week. The 3rd in the line was the passing of Jugah, another sire of long and successful lineage.
But I guess none of them kicking off is as bad as poor old David Taggart - not one, but 2 broken legs from a fall at Stony Creek on Tuesday.
